Cagayan de Oro to the ridge
Two to three hours down the highway to Malaybalay City, then about an hour up to Barangay Kibalabag. Where to catch the bus, how the last rough stretch goes, and how to make a weekend of it.
The highway to Malaybalay
Buses and vans bound for Bukidnon leave from the Agora terminal in Cagayan de Oro, and buses on the Cagayan de Oro to Davao highway pass through Malaybalay every couple of hours. Plan on two to three hours to Malaybalay City, depending mostly on how long it takes to get clear of city traffic.
Malaybalay is the provincial capital and your last stop for fuel and supplies before the climb. Pick up snacks, drinks, and anything you'd like for dinner here, because whatever you haven't bought by the time you leave town, you won't find up on the mountain.
The last hour, and the river crossing
From Malaybalay, allow about another hour to reach us. The lower stretches are paved; the upper ones are gravel and packed earth, with a river crossing close to the property. In dry weather a regular car can manage it if you take it slow, though a pickup or an SUV makes for a much easier drive. After heavy rain the last section is tricky without high clearance and the crossing can rise, so give us a call the morning you travel and we'll tell you how it looks that day.
Rather leave the driving to someone else? We run a shuttle for ₱3,000 round trip, and habal-habal is ₱300 for two passengers per ride. If you'd like to leave your car below, off-site parking is ₱100 a night.
A weekend out of the city
Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 noon, so the easy rhythm for a weekend from Cagayan de Oro is an unhurried afternoon drive up and a slow morning before you head home. The cloud usually fills the valley early and burns off by midday, so take your time over breakfast. That misty morning is the part a day trip always misses.
