The highway to Malaybalay
Buses run the Cagayan de Oro to Davao highway through Malaybalay every couple of hours, and Malaybalay City is about two hours from Cagayan de Oro that way. Road times are approximate and depend on how long it takes to get out of the city.
Malaybalay is the provincial capital and the last place to buy fuel or supplies before the climb. Whatever you have not bought by the time you leave town, you are not buying.
The last hour, and the crossing
From Malaybalay allow about another hour up to us. The lower stretches are sealed; the upper ones are gravel and packed earth, and there is a river crossing close to the property. A regular car manages it in dry weather if you take it slowly, and a pickup or an SUV is the easier drive by a wide margin. After heavy rain the last section is difficult without high clearance and the crossing can rise, so call us the morning you travel rather than afterwards.
If you would rather not drive it, we run a shuttle for ₱3,000 round trip, and habal-habal is ₱300 for two passengers per ride. Off-site parking is ₱100 a night if you would sooner leave the car below.
A weekend out of the city
Check in is from 3:00 PM and check out is 12:00 noon, which makes an afternoon arrival and a slow morning the natural shape of a weekend from Cagayan de Oro. The cloud usually fills the valley early and has burned off by the middle of the day, so the morning is the part worth staying for — it is the one thing a day tour misses.
