Davao and Valencia to Kibalabag
Malaybalay City is about four hours from Davao City by bus and under an hour from Valencia City. Whichever way you come, the trip ends on the same lovely last hour of mountain road.
From Davao City
Buses and vans bound for Bukidnon leave from Davao's Ecoland terminal and head up the Davao to Cagayan de Oro highway, passing through Malaybalay every couple of hours. Allow about four hours to Malaybalay City. It makes for a long day, so many guests break the trip and come up the afternoon before rather than doing the bus ride and the climb in one go.
Road times are approximate, so treat the hour from Malaybalay up to us as its own leg at the end, not part of the highway run.
From Valencia City
Valencia City is under an hour from Malaybalay, which makes it the shortest approach and an easy one to do in a morning. It's also home to Lake Apo, a quiet crater lake in Barangay Guinoyoran where you can paddle a kayak, so a stop there on the way up or back adds very little driving.
We haven't timed the drive to Lake Apo from our own gate, so plan it from town rather than from us.
Driving yourself
From Malaybalay City, head west toward Barangay Kibalabag and keep climbing. Fill up in town, because there's no fuel past the last barangay. The paved road gives way to gravel and packed earth on the upper stretches, and there's a river crossing near the end. Call us the morning you travel and we'll happily tell you what the crossing looks like that day.
